Fletchers Flyer has ben given a bug chnace by the handicapper and looks worth a punt to take advantage in the 3.35 at Exeter today.
Harry Fry’s charge shaped with plenty of promise to make the frame in his first three starts over the larger obstacles before rounding off the 2016 campaign with a win in an ultra-competitive 17-runner handicap at the Punchestown Festival off a rating of 138.
Fletchers Flyer raced prominently throughout and after leading at the last dug deep and found plenty for pressure to beat Forever Gold by 2 1/2 lengths.
He had clearly not been the easiest to train since but showed that he retained plenty of ablility when third to Big Bad John at Ascot back 12 months ago off 144 and is now able to race in this off just 137.
His revised mark is lb lower than when successful at Punchestown and that gives him a huge shour in this veterans’ chase fron a handicapping perspective.
Fletchers Flyer also ran a bit better than the bare result suggests last timw out at Sandown and with Kieron Edgar in the saddle taking off another 3lb looks weighted to get back on the scoresheet.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Fletchers Flyer (4/1 Paddy Power, Sky Bet, Stan James – BOG)
