Gheedaa shaped with stacks of promise on seasonal reappearance and makes plenty of appeal at 8/1 in the Summer Stakes at York today (3.15).
William Haggas’ filly progressed with each outing as a juvenile last season, winning once and finishing runner-up on three occasions.
She looked the type that would make up into a really useul three-year-old and that view was confirmed when she finsihed fourth to Battaash in a Listed contest over 5f at Sandown last month.
After being slowly away and finding herself at the rear of the field she made good headway a furlong from home to be nearest at the finish and beaten 3 3/4 lengths without being unduly knocked about.
The winner is a smart sort who has since gone on to break the course record when landing the Group 3 Coral Charge at the same venue and the runner-up Koropick has since landed a Group 3 at Newcastle.
That gives the form a rock soild look and given how the race panned out it was a terrific effort.
Gheedaa is sure to strip much fitter for the outing and the step back up to 6f is alsio in her favour.
