Harvey’s Hope has slipped back down the weights and at 3/1 rates the best bet on this evening’s Haydock card (9.00).
Keith Reveley’s gelding had some solid form to his name last year and is only 4lb higher than when slamming Amir Pasha by 3 lengths in an apprentice handicap at Redcar.
He went on to finish a solid fifth of 13 to Palazzo Bianco in a decent class 4 contest over this course and distance where he had Hallstatt 10 lengths behind in 11th.
The six-year-old now meets that rival on exactly the same terms, so there is no reason why he shoudln’t be able to confirm the form.
He has also put in some solid runs on quick going, so the ground will not be an issue and he remains relatively unexposed in this sphere in only his second season in action.
Another plus is that the useful Shane B Kelly takes a further 5lb off his back, and he also comes into the contest in good form having recently finished runner-up over hurdles at Southwell.
This class 5 contest looks to represent a great opportunity for him to get back in the winners’ enclosure, and in my eyes he should be far shorter in the betting than Hallstatt who is proving very difficult to win with.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Harvey’s Hope (3/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
