Huck draws, Stieglitz wins and Dimitrenko gets stopped

Posted on by Grant Miller

Marco Huck draws with Ola Afolabi to retain his WBO Cruiserweight World title after his move back down from Heavyweight in his last outing with Alexander Povetkin. In a cracker of a fight Afolabi won the early rounds with Huck taking the latter to get a draw on points 114-114, 114-114 and 115-113. We had Afolabi just edging it as he has come on in his career in leaps and bounds. Huck who was unlucky in his Heavyweight campaign could not overcome the durable Afolabi to take the fight by a win.

Robert Stieglitz retained his WBO Super-Middleweight title beating late sub Nader Hamdan who replaced the injured Brit George Groves with ease on all scorecards 120-108, 117-11 and 117-111.

Whilst the only real minor upset of the night was tough Bulgarian Heavyweight Kubrat Pulev stopping Alexander Dimitrenko in the 11th to take the vacant EBU title.

Daily Sport says – Great nights boxing from Erfurt with some great fights on there.
