Indian Castle has shaped well in two starts this season and makes plenty of appeal in the Classic Handicap Chase at Warwick today (3.35) now fitted with the visor for the first time.
Ian Williams’ gelding is on a long losing run having not scored since landing a novices’ handicap chase at Cheltenham back in January 2014 when beating Annacotty by 1 1/2 lengths off a mark of 135.
However, he has run some solid races in defeat including when fourth fo 24 to The Druids Nephew in the Ultima at the 2015 Festival off 139 and sixth of 22 to Cause Of Causes in this year’s Kim Muir off 134.
He is now able to race off 127 and ran well off that rating on seasonal reapperance when a solid second to What Happens Now at Cheltenham where after getting outpaced three form home he rallied well to go down by 9 lengths.
Indian Castle backed that up with a similar effort when a keeping on 2 1/4 length sixth of 15 to What A moent at the same venue.
I thought that he raced a bit lazily on each occasion so the fitting of the new headgear looks a shrewd move.
If it does have the desired effect he looks weighted to run a huge race.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Indian Castle (8/1 bet365, Betfred, Stan James, William Hill – BOG)
