Invigilator looks to have plenty going for him in the 2.40 and at 7/2 is strongly fancied to land the spoils.
Derek Shaw’s gelding travelled as well as anything over course and distance 8 days ago when finishing a 2 length fifth of 13 to Elegant Muse.
He looked a big threat turning for home, and although he kept on well he seemed to me to flatten out a bit as if he could have had a breathing problem.
The fact that connections are now fitting him with a tongue-tie for the first time suggests that could well have been the case and in the circumstances he ran a terrific race.
He gets into this contest off the same mark of 55, and that looks workable if he takes to the tongue-tie.
The four-year-old’s last win came over 5f here when he got up in the dying strides to beat Ladydolly by a nose under today’s rider Joe Fanning, and he went on to run a cracker for him when a a 3/4 length fourth to Almaty Express over the minimum trip.
He missed the kick badly that day and was doing all his best work at the finish and should now be able to turn the tables over a more suitable trip of 6f given that he is 2lb better off with that rival.
The only obstacles he has to overcome is a wide draw in stall 9, but given his run style it may not be a big a hindrance as it could and if getting away on level terms he should have the race set up nicely for him to swoop late and fast.
Recommended bet: 3pts win Invigilator (7/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
