Irish Girls Spirit has shaped as if coming to hand and is strongly fancied at 11/4 to get back to winning ways in the 6.00 at Doncaster this evening now eased in grade.

Paul Midgley’s mare ended 2014 in terrific form, landing a 5f contest at Musselburgh before bolting up by 5 lengths at Hamilton off a mark of 58.

She got raised 10lb for the latter, and has failed to trouble the judged in three runs this season.

However, she has been dropped 4lb as a result and hasn’t shaped too badly on each occasion.

The six-year-old has shown plenty of pace to chase the leaders before being unable to find any extra, and has looked as if needing the outings.

That has been the case after previous lay offs, and Irish Girls Spirit should now be spot on to do herself justice.

She also drops back down to class 5 company having competed at class 4 level last time out over course and distance, and everything suggests she is going to be tough to beat.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Irish Girls Spirit (11/4 generally available – use BOG firms)
