Ironically a solid punt to open account

Posted on by Dave Metcalf

Ironically narrowly failed to land the punt for us last time out but looks good value at 7/2 to make amends in the 3.30 at Lingfield.

David Lanigan’s filly ran a cracker when going down by just 3/4 of a length to Bernisdale at Windsor 9 days ago when advised at double figure odds.

It was her first run for 278 days, and after travelling strongly at the rear she threw down a determined challenge inside the last to close on the winner all the way to the line.

She is able to run off the same mark of 63 in this contest, and there is little doubt in my mind that she is better than that.

The filly was a massive eye-catcher on her juvenile debut at Newmarket in April of last year when staying on nicely from the rear under a hands and heels ride to finish a never nearer 6th of 14 to Minidress over 7f.

Although she failed to build on that effort in her next two starts, she caught the eye on her handicap debut at Kempton when making good late headway having been outpaced early doors to finish 6th of 13 to Anginola at Kempton over a mile.

Both those runs suggested that she would improve when upped in trip, and that proved to be the case last time out.

She is sure to strip fitter today, and off just 8st 9lb must take all the beating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Ironically (7/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
