Jamesway looks to have plenty going for him in the sprint that opens today’s Epsom card (2.15).
Richard Fahey’s gelding failed to get his head in front last season but made the frame on four occasions and was an unlucky loser in the “Dash” over course and distance last June.
Held up that day, he found himself blocked in behind a wall of horses a furlong from home and after being forced to sit and suffer flew home when a gap appeared to be beaten just 3/4 of a length into seventh behind Captaine Dunne.
There is absolutely no doubt that with a clear passage he would have prevailed and he now starts this campaign on a 3lb lower mark.
That gives him a huge chance of belatedly getting back into the winners’ enclosure, and another plus is that he ran very well on his reappearance last year when an excellent fourth of 16 to On The High Tops at Thirsk off a mark of 90.
The son of Camacho also handles cut in the ground, has a decent draw near the favoured stands rail in 11 and the services of Paul Hanagan in the saddle.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Jamesway (11/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
