Jet fancied to fly home

Posted on by Dave Metcalf

Pastoral Jet will appreciate the step up to a mile in the 5.50 at Lingfield and at 7/1 rates the best bet on the card.

Richard Rowe’s colt is a lightly raced sort who has shaped really well on his last two starts over 7f.

The first of those runs came at Kempton where after being at the rear he stayed on strongly on the outside from the three marker to be beaten just a length by Lovat Lane.

The four-year-old then ran far better than his finishing position suggests when returned to the track and coming fifth of 14 to Diplomatic from a poor draw.

Again he was held up at the rear before putting in all his best work late on to be beaten just over 5 lengths without ever threatening to land a blow.

Both those runs came off a mark of 49, and he has now been dropped a 1lb and has the services of Josh Baudains in the saddle who takes off a further 7lb.

That gives him a great chance from a handicapping perspective, especially now that he is tackling a mile for the first time.

To me he has been crying out for the step up in trip, and this looks a golden opportunity for him to get into the winners’ enclosure at the ninth time of asking.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Pastoral Jet (7/1 bet365 – BOG)
