4/1 Anthem ready to Rock

Rock Anthem has been shaping really well of late and is strongly fancied at 4/1 to score and overdue success in the 9.05 at Kempton.

Mike Murphy’s gelding ran a cracker last time out when third to Doncosaque at Windsor off a mark of 69 and is able to race off a 7lb lower mark this evening now switched back to the all-weather.

Before that effort he had also caught the eye on his previous to runs when staying  on well under tender handling to finish a never nearer fifth of 11 to Yensi at Leicester, and then finishing 8th of 13 to Nazreef at Goodwood without being knocked about.

The slow early pace was totally against him in the latter and he ran far better than his finishing position suggest to be beaten just 3 1/2 lengths.

His all weather rating of 62 means that he is now 10lb lower than his last success on the turf at Sandown last September where he showed a good turn of foot to come from off the pace and readily beat Beaumont’s Party by 3/4 of a length.

That form looks pretty strong in the context of this contest, and the booking of Silvestre De Sousa certainly catches the eye.

He looks the ideal partner for the seven-year-old who looks thrown-in at his best and cannot be opposed from a handicapping point.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Rock Anthem (4/1 Betfred- BOG, totesport)

7/1 Sakhee’s Pearl looks a real gem

Sakhee’s Pearl can usually be relied upon to run a solid race at Kempton, and having slipped back down to her last winning mark makes plenty of appeal at ? in the 8.35 tonight.

Gay Kelleway’s mare won over course and distance last September off tonight’s mark of 75 and has posted to solid efforts of a 1lb higher lately to suggest she is ready to go in again.

She really caught my eye on her latest start here last month when after being held up off the pace she kept on really well to finish a never nearer fourth to Eclipseoftheheart.

The five-year-old was beaten just 3 lengths in the class 4 contest and is now better handicapped and dropped down a grade to class 5.

That gives her every chance of getting back in the winners’ enclosure and at 7/1 with Coral she looks a rock solid each-way play.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Sakhee’s Pearl (7/1 Coral)
