Kilbree Chief looks nicely treated on the pick of his form and rates a solid bet at 4/1 in the Scottish Borders National at Kelso today (2.20).

Lucinda Russell’s eight-year-old posted solid efforst to finish runner-up on his first three starts over the larger obstacles last season before showing a good attitude to dig deep and score at Ayr by a neck.

He got put up 6lb for that success to 125 but went on to round off the campaign with a keeping on 5 length second to Vivaldi Collonges in a class 2 contest off Ayr.

Although well beaten on retrun to action at Kelso off 127 he looked very ring rusty and was not kncoked about.

The assessor has been quick to drop him 2lb to 125, and Kilbree Cheif has been placed off higher over hurdles and looks the type who should have more to offer in his second season as a chaser.

He also looks as if he will ideally be suited by this 4m marathon test and with the stable and jocket Tom Scyudamore in good form everything looks in place for a huge run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Kilbree Chief (4/1 generally available – use BOG Firms)
