Dennis Hobson put on another cracking show at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge Arena on Friday night [Feb 2] televised LIVE on Free2Air channel FREESPORT TV and co-headlined by Josh Wale’s British bantamweight title defence against Bobby Jenkinson and Local lad Loua Nassa against Guernseyman Brad Watson for the vacant English super-flyweight strap.

What a fight Nassa v Watson turned into with Watson the victor with a superb 10th round KO finish. Watson who hadn’t fought in 15 months took a little time to shake the ring rust off but after the halfway stage, DROPPING Nassa in the 6th with a thundering right hook to the chin. From then on Watson started to find his range and was landing the bigger shots, although Nssa was still in the fight until the 10th and final round when Watson went to work once again and hit Nassa with another BIG righthand dropping him once more.  Nassa made the count but with Watson on the offensive and landing at will the ref had seen enough and called a halt to the action at 1:11 of the round.  Watson now Guernsey’s first English title holder.

In the other BIG fight of the evening Josh Wale retained his BRITISH title stopping Bobby Jenkinson in the 9th round. Jenkinson had some success in the earlier rounds but after getting cut in the 7th and then dropped in the 9th it was all over.

Results in brief:- Jersey’s Danny Kennedy got a draw over 6 rounds at super-welter against seasoned journeyman William Warburton 57-57, Dan West stopped Paul Lovell in the 3rd of their 4 rounder at super-welter, Sheffield bantamweight Kyle Yousef beat Isaac Quaye over 6 rounds 60-54, Super-lightweight Muma Mweemba beat journeyman Kristian Laight over 4 rounds 40-36, Super-welter Anthony Tomlinson stopped MJ Hall in their super-welterweight bout.

Upset of the night has to be Danny Tombs getting stopped in 2 rounds by Adam Jones in their 4 rounder.

All in all a great nights action once again in Sheffield.
