La Vaticane looks nicely treated on the pick of her form and worth siding with at 9/1 in the Grand Sefton Chase at Aintree today (3.15).

The mare has some useful form in France when winning five times and after joining trainer David Pipe came good at the fifth time of asking for the Pond House handler when scoring by 23 lengths at Winanton back in March.

La Vaticane backed that up with a very good eighth of 29 to Eastlake in the Topham over course and distance off a mark of 142, and shaped well on seasonal reapperance when a solid second to Desert Queen at Market Rasen last month when beaten five lengths after stumbling badly and getting hampered two from home.

That run should have put the seven-year-old spot on for this and the assessor has been kind in quickly dropping her 2lb.

A revised mark of 138 makes La Vaticane look nicely weighted on the pick of her form and the fact that she ran well over the unique Grand national fences in the Topham is a big plus.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way La Vaticane (9/1 bet365, BetVictor, Stan James, William Hill – BOG)
