Late Date worth a punt on handicap debut

Late Date is an interesting contender on handicap debut in the 3.20 at Kelso today and looksworth siding with at 8/1.

The gelding won on his second start in an Irish Point over 3m but has failed to tourble the judge in three runs since joining trainer Micky Hammond.

However, two of those habe been over 2m and in the first he was very highly tried on a hot class 4 contest at Perth won by Moon Racer.

He was also far from disgraced last time out when fifth of 13 to Kalanti over 2m at this venue and his three truns have all come in a quick space of time.

The five-year-old clearly looks to have been brought along with handicaps in mind, and if that proves to be the case a mark of 91 could well be exploitable now that Late Date is stepped up in trip to 2m 6f.

It looks sure to suit looking at his point win and with Finian O’Toole in the saddle taking off another 5lb with his claim he looks weighted to run a big race.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Late Date (8/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
