West Leake shaped as if ready to take advantage of a falling mark last time out and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 11/1 in the finale at Kempton (9.05).
The gelding was a prolific winner in the early part of last year when bagging five handicap wins on the all-weather – three of them at this venue.
Although was not at his best in his first two starts this year he shaped with bags more promise last time out when fifth of 12 to Twice Red over an inadequate 6f here.
Held up in mid-division he made good headway to chase the leaders a furlong from home before being unable to quicken when it mattered and staying on at the one pace to be beaten three lengths.
The handicapper has since dropped him another 2lb to a mark of 63 and he is now 3lb lower than when registering his last success over 7f at this track last May.
That gives him a tremendous chance from a handicapping perspective, and with three runs under his belt he should now be ready to do himself justice.
The step back up to a mile tonight will also suit and this looks a good opportunity for him to get back in the winners enclosure.
I had him priced up at no bigger than 8/1 so at the 11s on offer with Paddy Power he looks terrific value.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way West Leake (11/1 Paddy Power – BOG)
