Maksab makes plenty of appeal at 14/1 in the 5.55 at Newmarket today.

Mick Channon’s charge won twice as a juvenile, inlucing on the July course at this venue.

He rounded off the campaign with a solid fourth of eight to Rufus King here in a class 2 nursery when keeping on to be beaten 3 lengths off a mark of 84 having raced wide and had every chnace a furlong from home.

The winner has gone on to finish a fine lenmgth second to Headway in a Listed contest at Lingfield and the runner up Port Swtan has won since.

The fifth home Clubbale has also tatsed success since to give the form a solid look.

Maksab now returns to action in this class 4 contest off 1lb lower and his current rating of 83 is the same as last successful in a class 3 on the July course.

It gives him every chance from a handicapping perpsective and the stables’ runners are usually primed to do themselves justice.

With Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle he looks overpriced at the odds on offer and well worth an each-way wager.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Maklsab (14/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
