Maloney talks Hennessy and Price v Fury

Frank Maloney has simply demanded rival promoter Mick Hennessy enters negotiations with him to make a heavyweight superfight between David Price and Tyson Fury instead of continuing “a public slanging match”.

“I’m happy to sit around the table and negotiate,” said Maloney, whose fighter Price defeated Matt Skelton in two rounds on Friday, one night before Fury’s unanimous decision victory over Kevin Johnson. “I’m not getting involved in a public slanging match about who’s right and who’s wrong – the answer to this fight is sitting around the table and negotiating.

“I don’t know where he’d earn that sort of money anywhere else. Mick Hennessy has also been sent another email saying if you don’ think 650k is enough, let’s sit around a table and try and make the fight happen if you want it to happen – if you don’t, please let us know.

“I had no interest in [Fury-Johnson] at all. It was a total mismatch – a fighter who couldn’t even win Prizefighter who came in like a human punchbag and went 12 rounds. Fighters like that should be taken out in three or four rounds if you’re a true world title contender.

“On the night, if the fight [between Price and Fury is] made the best man will win the fight. My telephone line is open to a call and I’m willing to sit around any table and chat to Mick Hennessy.”
