The fight billed as the biggest fight of all time ended in controversy after just 4 rounds.
After a pretty even fight in my opinion Ortiz was winning the 4th round when he had Mayweather on the ropes and then blatantly butted him in the face, referee Joe Cortes deducted a point from Ortiz and as the 2 men touched gloves in the centre of the ring and Ortiz when to hug his opponent Mayweather hit him with a big right and as Ortiz looked to the ref who most people say had yet called time in Ortiz got caught again with another big shot and was down. Ref Cortes then proceeded to count Ortiz out.
So Mayweather is now world champ after a very ring rusty performance. We’ll all now have to wait and see if the muted re-match takes place.
Daily Sport says – on last nights show Maywweather was lucky he wasn’t facing Pacquiao or the outcome would have been so very different.
