Mitchell Victorious at York Hall

Posted on by Grant Miller

© 2012 Daily Sport LimitedLondon’s York Hall played host last night to the long awaited return of east end hero Kevin Mitchell who fought a 10 rounder against the Dominican Republic’s Felix Lora in front of a sell out crowd.

Lora based out of Barcelona had plenty of bottle and came to fight but was made to miss a lot and was dropped in the second but didn’t look like getting stopped after that. Mitchell showed ring rust after 7 months out of the ring and his timing wasn’t at its best. Lora kept Mitchell on the back foot at times, but Mitchell was victorious winning on points with ref Richie Davies scoring it 98-92.

The undercard featured Bradley Skeete v Laszlo Komjati with Skeete winning on points 80-71 over 8 rounds having dropped the Hungarian in the 3rd but never looked like finishing him off over the distance.

Former Olympian Bradley Saunders made his pro debut against veteran Jason Nesbitt with Saunders getting his first pro victory with a 3rd round TKO win after ref Rob Williams stopped it much to the protests of Nesbitt who stormed out of the ring.

© 2012 Daily Sport LimitedHot prospect Super-Middleweight Frank Buglioni was taken the distance in his 3rd fight by tough Ryan Clark who came to fight but was never going to be the victor. Buglioni who was looking for the KO throughout won on points 40-36.

Results in brief – Lightweight Ediz Hussien beat Marc Callaghan 39-37 over 4 rounds, Gary Corcoran beat Matt Seawright TKO 3rd round and Canning Town’s Billy Morgan bet Dan Naylor over 6 rounds on points 60-54.

Daily Sport says – All in a good nights boxing albeit with no great KO’s. Mitchell needs to do more than he did last night if he is to beat WBO champ Ricky Burns in their muted summer showdown.
