Mr Wagyu caught the eye last time out and makes plenty of appeal at 8/1 in the 4.10 at Ripon today.

John Quinn’s three-year-old stepped up markedly on his two previous runs this season when a 2 1/2 length third of 10 at Redcar, showing plenty of pace to chase the leaders until being unable to find any extra inside the final furlong.

It was a big step back in the right direction and he is able to race in this class 5 contest off an unchanged mark of 70.

That is 3lb lower than when landing a class 2 nursery at York last July and prior to that Mr Wagyu had opened his account in a 10-runner maiden over course and distance.

It gives him every chance at the weights on ground which is ideal.

His draw in stall 1 is not ideal but Mr Waqyu has plenty of pace and is ideally suited to a strongly run race and shoukld be able to get a nice tow into the race.

He also now gets fitted with the visor for the first time and if that has the desired effect he looks decent value to land this if building on his latest effort.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Mr Wagyu (8/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
