No Heretic is not on a bad mark on the pick of his form and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 12/1 in the Chester Cup (3.10).

The gelding had some smart form to his name back in 2013 when trained by David Simcock, winning at Newmarket and finishing a solid three length sixth of 19 to Chiberta King off an official rating of 96 in the Queen Alexander Stakes at Royal Ascot.

No Heretic also ran very well when fifth of 14 to Brown Panther in the Group 2 Goodwood Cup, getting headed a furlong from home and weakening late on to be beaten just 5 3/4 lengths.

He then Nicky Henderson for a career over hurdles, but suffered an injury and was subsequently on the sidelines for 940 days before showing that he still retained plenty of ability when third at Newbury last month on debut over the obstacles.

That should have put him spot on for this, and a mark of 93 looks exploitable – especially judged on his run in the Gooodwood Cup.

He has also bagged a good draw in stall 4, and with Jamie Spencer in the saddle everything looks in place for a big run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way No Heretic (12/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
