One Word More weighted to go well at York

Posted on by Dave Metcalf

One Word More has slipped to a handy mark and makes plenty of appeal at 11/1 in the 1.55 at York today.

Tim Easterby’s gelding is on a long losing run having not scored since beating So Beloved by 1/2 a length at Thirsk back in April 2015 off a mark of 92.

However he has posted some really solid efforts in defeat including when second of 17 to Rene Mathis in the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket off a mark of 102.

The seven-year-old also ran well after a break last July when an a 3/4 third of 15 to Home Cummins over course and distance in this 12 months ago off 99 where jockey Rachel Richardson dropped her whip approaching the final furlong and in my mind he would have won otherwise.

He also finished an excellent seventh of 19 to Franklin D in the Betfred Mile at Goodwood off the same rating when enountering all sorts of traffic problems and getting badly hampered inside the final furlong to be beaten 4 lengths by a handicap blot.

One Word More is now able to race a reduced rating of 93, 6lb lower than last year’s renewal, and that gives inm a big shout at the weights on the pick of his form.

He also comes into the race having shaped as if coming to the boil last time out when an eye-cathing fourth at Newcastle after being slowly away.

That was his second start of the campaign and he looks to have been primed for this.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way One Word More (11/1 bet365, BetVictor, Ladbrokes – BOG)
