Orsippus had dropped to a tempting mark if bouncing back to his best and looks worth chancing at 14/1 in the 2.30 at Market Rasen.
Michael Smith’s gelding Won Grade 1 juvenile at Aintree in 2010 when officially rated 130 and fnished a cracking third in Coral Cup at last year’s Cheltenham Festival off a mark of 136.
Although he hasnot been at his best since then he over the sticks he did manage to land a hadicap on the level at York back in October and takes a drop in grade after being outclassed behind Overturn in a Grade 2 contest at Ascot last time out.
The six-year-old was clearly amiss that day, but he has been given a break to freshen up and the handicapper has given him a real chance by dropping him another couple of pounds to 134.
That makes him look very well treated on his run at Prestbury Park and with the useful Jack Quinlan taking another 5lb off his back he is weighted to go close.
With the trip and going ideal everything looks in place for a big run, and at the 14s on offer he makes plenty of each-way appeal.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Orsippus (14/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
