Pierre fancied to Power home

Powerful Pierre has been unlucky in his last two starts and is strongly fancied at 7/2 to gain compensation with victory in the 2.40 at Wolverhampton today.

Wilf McIness’ gelding isn’t the easiest to win with, but he has won twice at the track and has been running well of late.

He got no luck in runningb whatsoever here two starts back when well punted and running on when badly snatched up and then suffered a similat fate last time up at Lingfield when a close up 2 length fourth of 11 to Johnny Splash.

His last success came when he sprang a 33/1 surprise here last April where he got up late to beat Black Cadillac by a nose off a mark of 63, and he now gtes into this of 60.

That gives him every chance at the weights, and although he is yet to win over today’s 7f trip he has been running lately as if it may well suit at this time of his career.

The six-year-old also now gets the visor refitted to replace the blinkers, and with Shane Kelly in the saddle looks sure to take all the beating in what looks a very winnnable race.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Powerful Pierre (7/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
