Pike Corner Cross shaped better than the bare result last time out and looks decent value at 6/1 to take advantage of what looks a handy mark in the 5.15 at Kempton this evening.

Joseph Tuite’s colt shaped with plenty of promsie in three maiden runs, most notably when staying on nicely to finish an 8 lengths fifth of 12 to the now 107-rated Tashaar over 1m at Haydock.

The second, third, and fourth home have all won since and are now rated 81, 86 and 71 respectively, and that represents strong forn and makes Pike Corner Cross’s current mark of 69 look fery exploitable.

Although he failed to shien off it on handicap debut last time out over 1m 2f at Windsor when sixth of 11 to Light Wave, the three-year-old got hampered and was not given a hard time once it was clear he would not be winning.

I am convinced that he is far better than what he showed there, and with the switch to the polytrack expected to suit he definitely looks worth anotehr chnaec to build on previous promise.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Pike Cross Corner (6/1 genereally available – use BOG firms)
