Rainbow ready to strike gold

Posted on by Dave Metcalf

Alexs Rainbow was a real eye-catcher last time out and at 8/1 is strongly fancied to notch her first success in the 2.50 at Lingfield.

The filly put in a highly promising effort on her first start for Peter Hiatt over a mile at Kempton when finishing 5th of 14 to Gallantry.

After breaking well, she was surprisingly quickly taken back to the rear of the field before making good headway on the inside a furlong from home and staying on strongly to be beaten 4 1/4 lengths.

She was not given a hard time, and if building on that effort must be a major player in this off the same mark of 59.

The four-year-old has also shaped well on her final start for John Gallagher last season when a never nearer sixth of 14 to Spirit of Grace at Warwick and on her run when third to Mica Mika in a nursery at that track looks well treated in this.

To me she is going to be seen at her best over today’s 7f trip with a strong pace to chase, and she should get that today with the likes of Dvinsky in the line-up.

At 8/1 she looks overpriced and cracking each-way value.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Alexs Rainbow (8/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
