Red Pike has slipped to a handy mark and makes plenty of appeal at 12/1 in the 4.00 at Doncaster today now eased in grade.
Bryan Smart’s charge is on a long losing run having not scored since landing a class 3 contest over course and distance back in August 2015 off a mark of 95 after which he got put up to 101.
However, he has run some solid races to make the frame in class 3 affairs off 94 and 96 and rab a blinder when a 2 3/4 length eighth of 27 to Dancing Star in last year’s Stewards’ Cup (class 2) at Goodwood off 98.
He is now able to race in this class 3 affair off 90 and has a 25% strike rate in the grade having won twice and been placed twice from eight starts.
That gives him major claims at the weights and he comes into the contest on the bcak of a promising reappearance run when a 3 1/2 length seventh of 13 to Intisaab in a class 2 at Ripon when showing plenty of pace and keeping on well when headed.
That run should have put him spot on and everything looks in place for a big run.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Red Pike (12/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
