Reds out for Revenge

Posted on by Tom Warrington

Liverpool look worth a punt at 6/5 to beat Chelsea at Anfield tonight (8pm KO, Live on Sky Sports 1) and gain some sort of revenge for their FA Cup Final defeat.

The Reds went down 2-1 when the sides met at Wembley on Saturday, and were arguably a bit unlucky not to force the game into extra time when Andy Carroll’s effort was adjudged not to have gone over the line.

Whether it was a goal or not will be argued long into the future (to me it wasn’t!), but what cannot be argued about is the impact Carroll made when he came on.

The striker scored his side’s only goal and the Chelsea defence simply didn’t know how to handle him.

Kenny Dalglish will surely put him in the starting XI this time, and at 7/1 with Ladbrokes to score the opener he looks decent value.

As far as the stats are concerned, Liverpool have won five of the last seven Premier League meetings between the teams – including the last three in a row.

That is good reading and makes the 6/5 on offer with Ladbrokes and Paddy Power look too big.

The one worrying factor has to be that they have scored just once in their last three home games so backing under 2.5 goals looks a great bet at even money with bet365, Hills and Paddy Power.

I fancy Liverpool to edge what is surely going to be a very tight game, and a 1-0 victory appeals at 15/2 with BetVictor in the correct score market.
