Regal Encore appeals each-way at 1/1 in the Silver Cup Handicap Chase at Ascot today (3.00).
Anthony Honyeball’s nine-year-old won the race 12 months ago when staying on strongly from off the pace to beat Minella Daddy by 1 3/4 lengths off a mark of 144.
He now races off 6lb higher but showed that his current mark was not beyond him when running a stormer to belie his odds off 66/1 when a keeping on 9 1/4 length tird of 20 to Totall Reccall in the ultra-competitive Ladbrokes Trpphy at Newbury.
Regal Encore carried 3lb more than the progressive winner and I thought it was a cracking effort.
It was a huge step up on his reappearance run and onme which suggsted he had anoher big prize in him.
He is also nwo reunited withy Barry Geraghty who ahs partenered ho to both his chase successes and hails from a yard in terrific form at present.
