Saunter worth siding with in November Handicap

Saunter makes plenty of appeal at 8/1 in the November Handicap at Doncaster today(3.15).

The four-year-old was a dual scorer last season when in the care of David Menuisier, with the last of those successes coming at Newmarket off 90.

Saunter forged clear after being produced to lead at the furlong marker to easily beat Huge Future by 2 3/4 lengths and the form of the race has worked out well as the third home Brorocco and fifth placed G K Chesteron have both gone on to land valuable competitive handicaps.

He went on to round off the campaig with a solid second in a Listed contest in France off an official rating of 99 and caught the eye three starts back at Ascot when keeping on from off the pace to finish a two length never nearer fourth off 11 to Gawdawpalin.

Although then disappointing next time up at Nottigham when well-beaten, Saunter quickly out that effort behind him when a fine second last time out at Newmarket on his first start for new handler Stuart Williams.

After being-held up at the rear, and arguably being given too much to do, he stayed on strongly to go down by 3 lengths to Torcello.

Given how the race panned out it was a solid effort attempting to give 15lb to a progressive sort.

Although up 2lb for that run a mark of 95 that still looks exploitable on the pick of his form and another plus is that connectiosn have booked Jim Crowley to do the steering as he is 1-2 on Saunter and has a 50 per cent strike rate in the last 12 months for the yard – 2 wins from just 4 rides.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Saunter (8/1 generally available – use BOG firms paying 5 places)
