Shanroe Santos ran a stormer when runner-up last time out and looks worth siding with to go one better and land the spoils in the Sussex National at Plumpton today (2.35).
Lucy Wadham’s charge landed back-to-back contests back in the spring, with the last of those successes coming in a class 3 at Sandown where he stayed on strongly to be well on top at the finish and beat Masters Hill by 1/4 lengths off a mark of 126.
Shanbroe Santos is now able to race off just 1lb higher and comes into the race on the back of a fine 2 length second to Robinsfirth in a GHrade 3 at Cheltenham.
He stayed on strongly to be gaining all the way to the line having made a costly blunder two from home which arguably cost him the race.
But for that error I thought he would have won and he is able to race in this lower grade class 3 contest off an unchanged mark.
It makes him a huge player at the weights with a reapeat if cutting out the mistakes and he goes well for Leighton Aspell who is once again in the saddle.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Shanroe Santos (11/2 William Hill – BOG)
