Sharons drawn to Return to winning ways at Romford

Posted on by Dave Metcalf

There is some cracking Open race action live from Romford tonight on Racing Post Greyhound TV (Sky 212) and there are three bets stand out from a punting perspective.

In the sprint at 7.31, Trap 1 Sharons Return looks to have a plot draw and rates a solid bet at 9/4.

Maxine Locke’s son of Droopy’s Scolari is a useful sort when getting it right at the traps and has the quickest time in the book with a 13.51 to his name.

He finished behind Trap 3 Yahzee and Trap 6 Southview Ace last time out over course and distance but missed the lids that day before staying on strongly.

With Trap 2 likely to move middle tonight there should be bags of room on the rails for him to get a good early spec and if turning handy his stamina should enable him to power clear of the field.

8.02 Trap 1 Ballymac Loch looks decent value at 100/30 with 888spot to make his track experience tell and exploit a good looking draw to the full.

Jason Haeth’s dog has some stromng form to his name and has been mixing it with the best.

The son of Kinloch Brae ran well when runner-up to Dower Matt at the track back in January and showed what he was capable of when quickly away and leading from trap to line beating Barntrick Dupree by 1 1/4 lengths three starts back.

Hasn’t enjoyed the best of fortune in two recent runs behind the high class Lough Messi, but will find this easier and should get plenty of room to manoeuvre on the inside with Trap 2 heading middle and possibly holding up  with Trap 3 on his outside.

In the 9.40 Benkaat Boomer looks to have a lovely draw in Trap 6 and overpriced at 11/4.

Mark Wallis’ dog has a 24.10 to his name over course and distance, the quickest in the line-up, and ran a stormer last time out when missing the breal before running on strongly to finish third to Lough Messi.

With Trap 5 heading middle and setting up a possible bumping match with Trap 3, the son of Vans Escalade should get acres of space to operate as the sole wide seed and if holding his pitch and turning handy is going to be very difficult to contain as he brings his back straight pace into play.

Daily Sport recommended bets:

7.31 Trap 1 Sharons Return (9/4 bet365 – BOG, Coral)

8.02 Trap 1 Ballymac Loch (100/30 888sport)

9.40 Trap 6 Benkaat Boomer (11/4 bet365 – BOG)
