The well-treated Skyfire ran a cracker last time out and at 13/2 rates the best bet on the card at Haydock this evening (7.00).
Nick Kent’s gelding attempted to make all over course and distance and rallied bravely to be beaten just a neck by Brockwell on soft ground.
The pair pulled 5 lengths clear of the third home, and although the handicapper has reacted in putting him up 5lb the form looks solid and he remains well-in on his old form when trained by Mark Johnston.
The four-year-old registered his last success for that trainer when landing a class 3 handicap at Newcastle back in 2010 in game fashion off a mark of 74.
He is now 7lb lower and running in a class 5 contest, and judged on his latest effort poised to take advantage of his good mark.
There is every chance he could get a uncontested lead in this, and if he does then he will prove extremely tough to pass.
With the distance and ground ideal he looks sure to run his race and be hard to beat, and at 13/2 loo0ks good value.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Skyfire (13/2 Hills, Paddy Power – BOG)
