Solomn Grundy caught the eye last time out and is strongly fancied at 9/2 to land the spoils in the 4.20 at Cheltenham today.
Neil Mulholland’s gelding ran a cracker on seasonal reappearance at this venue when staying on to finish a 2 1/4 length second of 15 to Behind Time over 2m 5f.
He then scored in good style at Newbury over 3m when cosily beating Shantou Bob by 2 1/4 lengths and looked a slightly unlucky loser next time up over 2m 5f at Weetherby when having to be switched at a vital stage before going down by just a short-head.
Solomn Grundy was then given a geak and shaped better than the bafre result suggests on return to action at Kempton last month when eight of 19 to Brio Conti in a class 2 contest.
He was held-up off the pace in a slwoly run race by 3lb claimer Sean Corby before keeping on well late on to be beaten 16 1/2 lengths without duly being knocked about.
Solomn Grundy is now able to race in this lower grade class 3 affair off 1lb lower and should be really competutive off his current mark of 133 on the pick of his form over a 3m trip which suits.
Another plus is that he now has the professional services in the saddle of Noel Fehily who is two from three on him.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Solomn Grundy (9/2 bet365, Paddy Power – BOG)
