Space War is strongly fancied at 7/2 to land the spoils in the 2.40 at Chelmsford today now eased in grade.
Mick Easterby’s veteran was last successful at Lingfield three starts back when landing a class 6 handicap off a mark of 63.
He backed that up with a solid third over 6f at this venue in a class 5 clontest off his current mark of 66 and also posted another highly creditable effort last time out in a similar grade affair over course and distance when a 2 1/2 length fourth to London Prize.
Space War was unsuited by a slow gallop in the latter but kept on well given how the race panned out.
He now drops back down into class 6 company, in which he has a 20% strike rate, and this looks an extremely weak affair for the grade.
Space War also hails from a yard in fine form at present and this looks a golden opportunity for the 10-year-old to bag another success.
