Spurs value in Anfield clash

Posted on by Tom Warrington

A cracking game in prospect tonight between Liverpool and Spurs at Anfield (8pm KO, Live on Sky Sports 1), and the Londoners look terrific value at 3/1 to come on on top.

Harry Redknapp’s side have been in top form and currently sit in third place in the league having played some superb football this season.

They have won six out of eight games against Liverpool in all competitions under Redknapp, and have lost just two of the last 10 Premier League away matches (W6 D2 L2).

That makes them formidable opponents, and although they face a Liverpool side who are themselves on a roll having knocked City of the the Carling Cup, United out of the FA Cup and beaten Wolves 3-0 away in the league there is every reason to believe that the home side are vulnerable on their own patch.

That may sound a bit crazy given that Kenny Dalglish’s men are unbeaten at home this season.

However they have drawn seven of those 11 games and in my opinion that does not entitle them to be even money shots to beat a side who have a whole host of players capable of causing their defence real problems.

Luka Modric has scored in his last two league appearances against the Reds and has to be worth an interest at 18/1 with Stan James to net the opener.

Gareth Bale has also been in terrific form on the goal scoring front, and at 11/1 with the same firm also makes plenty of appeal.

Split stakes on both looks worth a small play to produce some decent profit.

However from a betting perspective the main bet has to be Spurs to win in the outright market at the 3s on offer with BetVictor and Stan James.
