Alluring Star has dropped to a dangerous mark and at 7/1 rates the best bet on the card in the finale at Nottingham (5.30).
Mick Easterby’s filly was in fine form last year, winning three times over 7f and a mile with her last success coming off a mark of 64.
She was put up to a mark of 71 after that win, and not surprisingly her form tailed off.
However the daughter of Gentleman’s Deal is now back down to a mark of just 58 and that gives her a huge chance from a handicapping perspective.
She also looks to be coming to hand on her latest effort where she stayed on after being outpaced two from home to finish fourth of 10 to Lindoro at Musselburgh.
Although beaten 10 lengths that day, she wasn’t unable to dominate and the winner has since followed up in facile fashion at Southwell.
Ideally she is at her best when forcing the pace, and although she faces some competition for the lead this afternoon she is going to be very hard to peg back if getting loose on the front end.
With David Simmonson taking another 3lb off her back she is simply too well treated to ignore, and I think she is entitled to be near favourite for this.
I had her priced up at no bigger than 5s, so at 7s with Paddy Power she looks way overpriced.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Alluring Star (7/1 Paddy Power – BOG)
