Stomp looks a sprinter going places and rates a solid bet at 7/2 to land the hat-trick in the 3.30 at Newmarket today.
Roger Charlton’s charge hinted at ability in four runs as a juvenile without getting his head in front, but has improved out of all recognition since being gelded over the winter.
The three-year-old ran out the comfortable 2 length winner of a 6f handicap on soft ground at Windsor on his seasonal reapperance, and then easily defied a 6lb rise in the weights last time out at Lingfield.
The son of Nayef travelled strongly imn the latter and only had to receive a tap with the whip show a good rurn of foot to put the race to bed.
He was value for much more than the winning margin of 1 1/2 lengths suggests in the latter, and a further 8lb rise in the weights is unlikely to stop him going in again.
Stomp looks on a swerious uoward curve, and with Joey Haynes taking 5lb off his back is effectively just 3lb higher than when winning at Lingfield.
He has a similar profile to his half-sister Mince, who won this race a couple of seasons ago en route to better things, and at 7/2 rates the standout bet on the card.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Stomp (7/2 Betfred – BOG)
