Storm Alert has become dangerously well-treated and looks worth siding with at 9/2 in the 2.50 at Chepstow today.
Sue Gardner’s gelding is three time winner over the obstacles, with the last of those successes coming in a class 4 contest at Exeter in February 2014 off a mark of 110.
The 10-year-old got put up 7lb to 117 for beating Lundy Sky by 1 1/2 lengths and although unable to get his head in front has run well on numerous occasiosn to make the frame off marks in the 90s.
He is now able to race off a mark of just 87, his lowest rating in over five years and a massive 23lb lower than when last victorious.
Prior to unseating early last time out, Storm Alert had also shaped better than the bare result last time out when fifth at Hereford where he took the scenic route and raced wide throughhout before keeping on.
If he can build on that he looks weighted to take all the beating.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Storm Alert (9/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
