The Throstles has dropped to a handy mark and makes plenty of appeal at 8/1 in the 4.30 at Pontefract today.
Kevin Frost’s three-year-old came good at the third time of asking as a juvenile last season when scoring by a short-head at Wolverhampton.
He was allotted and opening handicap mark of 73 on the back of that and has failed to make the frame in six subsequent outings.
However, that has reuslted in the handicapper cutting hin plenty of slack and The Throstles is now able to race off 63.
That looks far more realistic and he ran his best race for some time last time out off 2lb higher when a keeping on 4 1/4 length fourth of 10 to Ideal Candy at Chepstow.
He was well-backed that day so connections clearly think that he is now well-weighted.
The cheekpieces also now go on for the first time and if they have the desired effect The Throstles has every chance at the weights in my eyes to get back on the scoresheet.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win The Throstles (5/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
