New Rich is back down below his last winning mark and looks worth siding with at 11/1 in the 5.25 at Leicester today having shaped as if coming back to form last time out.
Eve Johnson Houghton’s gelding is a three time winner on the all-weather, with his last success coming at Kempton back in February where he rallied gamely to beat Divine Call by a head off a mark of 61.
He then ran well to finish fifth of 12 to Foie Gras at the same venue off 63, before putting in three below par efforts.
However there was much more to like about his run last time out at Chepstow, where after dwelling at the start and finding himself in rear on the unfavoured far side of the track he stayed on well to finish a never nearer 4 1/2 length seventh of 16 to Euroquip Boy off a rating of 61.
The four-year-old now gets into this off 60, 1lb lower than when last successful, and is weighted to go well if building on that effort.
Although he has yet to win on the turf, New Rich has shown he is effective on it by making the frame three times, and with the stable going well and Ryan While in the saddle he makes plenty of each-way appeal at the odds on offer.
