Nigel Twiston-Davies has his team in good form and is two from four with his runners at Carlisle in the past 12 months, so Tintern Theatre looks worth a wager at 9/2 to land the spoils in the 3.45 there today.

The seven-year-old chased home Finian’s Oscar first time up last season and went on to run really well at Cheltenham two starts later when a staying on 1 length fourth of 15 to What a Moment off a mark of 134.

He then unseated five from home at the same venue next time up when a close third at the time before scoring in good style at Kempton when driven out to beat Pilgrims Bay by 2 3/4 lengths in a competitive class 2 affair off 134.

Tintern Theatre got put up to 138 for that victory and things didn’t go to plan in four subsequnet starts.

However, they were all competitive affairs and he was sent off well-backed for the Grade 2 Peter Marsh at Haydock and Grade 3 Betdaq Handicap Chase at Kempton – suggesting that connections believed he was still on a workable mark.

Tintern Theatre now retruns to action in this class 3 off 135, just 1lb higher than when last successful, and that makes him a huge player at the weights and the one to beat on the pick of his form.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Tintern Theatre (9/2 generaly available – use BOG firms)
