United worth a punt at 6/4 on the handicap to sink the Saints

Man United look worth a wager at 6/4 on the handicap to give  Southampton a two goal start and a bearing at Old Trafford tonight (8pm KO).

Sir Alex’s side have dropped just two points in 13 Premier League home games against the Saints (W12 D1) and have scored at least twice in eight of their last nine PL games against them.

In their last 11 games, the Red Devils have scored four thrice, three twice and two three times, and unlike early on in the season they are no longer conceding early doors and having to come from behind to secure victories.

Everything suggests they are worthy 2/9 shots in the outright win market, but that price makes little appeal and backing them on the handicap (-2) with bet365 and Paddy Power looks the way to play this one given their goalscoring prowess at present.

Robin van Persie has scored four goals in three league appearances against Southampton, including a hat-trick in  United’s 3-2 win at St Marys earlier this season.

He is a top priced 11/4 with Coral in the first goalscorer market, but I think Wayne Rooney is better value at 7/2 with Betfred as he has scored five goals in his last five league appearances and has three goals in his last three PL games against Southampton.

I fancy United to win this 3-0 or 4-0, and those scorelines are chalked up at 9/1 and 14/1 respectively with BetVictor.
