Valid Point looks worth a wager at 4/1 to maintain his unbeaten record at Towcester in the 8.15 this evening.
Jim Old’s charge has won on all his three visits to the track over hurdles, with his last win coming off a mark of 110 back in November where he comfortably accounted for Manadam by 8 lengths.
He made a solid start to his chasing career when runner-up to Baile Anrai at Leicester two starts ago, and was staying on strongly and still in contention when coming to grief of it in a decent novuices’ handicap chase at Newbury last time out.
If none the worse for that tumble he looks sure to go well at a venue where his handlers runners always commaned the utmost respect.
Old has a 33% strike rate with his runners, and the drying ground is ideal for Valid Point who is only six and looks to have plenty more to offer judged on his progressive hurdling profile.
The obvious danger is the favourite Kasabadali, but that one is makijng it’s debut over the larger obstacles and the lack of experience could catch him out over these stiff fences.
To me valid Point looks decent value at 4/1 compared to the 7/4 on offer for the jolly, and at those odds rates the best bet on the card.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Valid Point (4/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
