The lightly-raced Varsovian could be on a potentially lenient handicap mark and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 28/1 in the 6.50 at Kempton this evening.

Dean Ivory’s gelding failed to trouble the judge in three maiden runs, but caught the eye in the last two of those which came in decent contests.

In the first over a mile at Nottingham, Varsovian led until being headed three from home and then weakend from the two market to finish 7th of 12 to Lacan.

In the end he was beaten 14 lengths, but the race has worked out really well and thrown up six subsequent winners.

Varsovian went on to finish seventh of 14 to Bombardment over a mile at the same venue, where he kept on at the one pace under tender handling having been held-up off the pace to be beaten 11 lengths.

He finished 2 3/4 lengths behind Swordbearer who went on to finish runner-up on handicpa debut off 70, and a length in front of Orion’s Bow who went on to score on handicap debut off 74 before finsihing a solid fourth last time out off 79.

That makes Varsovian’s mark of 57 look exploitable, and although he was well beaten last time out on handicap debut over a mile at Lingfield his cause was not helped by a slow start.

The son of Resuse To Bend made good headway to chase the leaders two from home before weakening at the furlong marker, and was not knocked about once it was clear he would not be winning.

The drop back to 7f may well be in his favour this evening, and from a good draw in stall 5 he could outrun his odds if getting away on terms in the hands of Seb Sanders.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Varsovian (28/1 bet365 – BOG)
