Buccaneers Vault runs off a career-low mark in the 3.20 at Redcar today and looks worth a wager at 10/1 after catching the eye last time out.

Michael Dods’ gelding won on debut as a juvenile when staying on strongly to beat Realtra over 5f at Beverley and went on to be placed on several occasions.

They included a third over 7f at Newcastle off a mark of 85, and the three-year-old is now able to race off just 72.

That gives him a big shout at the weights, and Buccaneers Vault comes into the contest on the back of some solid efforts.

He stayed on well on his penultimate after being slowly away to finish a never nearer 3 length third to As Good As Gold at Nottingham, and backed that up with an eye-cathing effort at Newcastle last time out.

Buccaneers Vault travelled strongly for much of the contest, but the jockey seemed to hang on to him for too long and the leaders got first run before he stayed on well to finish a 2 1/4 length fourth.

That run suggested his time was near and now now meets the winner Edgar Balthazar on 6lb better terms

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Buccaneers Vault (10/1 BetVictor, Coral, William Hill – BOG)
