Victory Chime scored in good style last time out on handicap debut and is strongly fancied to defy a rise in the weights an follow up in the 5.40 at Yorkl today.
Ralph Beckett’s three-year-old took up the running seven furlongs from hoem and stayed on well to comfortably beat Bajksy’s Art by 1 3/4 lengths at Goodwood.
He never looked in danher at any stage and to my mind was value for much more than the winning margin.
A 6lb rise to a mark of 78 looks fair, especially judged on the promise he showed as a juvenile.
In particular, he ran very well when an eye-catching fourth of 14 to My Lord And Master in a hot maiden at Nottingham.
The winner has since made the frame into two Listed contests to be rated 102 and the runner-up Young Rascal has won his next two starts – including the Group 3 Chester Vase last time out in terrific style – to emerge as a contender for the Investec Derby at Epsom.
Given that Victiry Chime finsihed just over 3 lengths behing Young Rascal it suggests that he is potenbtially ahread of the assessor and one to keep onside.
The step up in trip also promnises to suit and with the stable in fine for he looks to hold outstanding claims of going in again.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Victory Chime (4/1 Paddy Power, William Hill – BOG)
