Virgilio looks to have plenty going for him in the 8.20 at Aintree this evening and is of major interest at 3/1.
Trainer Dan Skelton is in red-hot form at present and Virgilio is fancied to provide him with another winner in the feature 3m 1f handicap chase (20.20).
Dan Skelton’s eight-year-old won his first two starts over fences in the style of a smart prospect and has since posted some solid efforts to make the frame.
They include when runner-up to Clans Des Obeux in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham and second to Royal Vacation in the Grade 1 Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton.
Virgilio ran in both those races off an offcial rating of 146 and now makes his handicap debut over the larger obstacles off 142.
That makes him look well-treated in this class 2 affair, especially as he is unbeaten in three starts in the grade and hails from a yard in terrific form at present.
