Zapper Cass caught the eye last time out on his first start for Mick Appleby and looks worth a punt at 15/2 in the 5.10 at Catterick today.
After racing wide, the five-year-old kept on nicely to be nearest at the finish and a 4 1/2 length third to Foxtrot Knight.
The handicapper has been quick to drop him 2lb to a mark of 68, and that is 10lb lower than when landing a class 4 at Nottingham last June.
It is a career-low and Zapper Cass has been rated as high as 84.
If building on his latest effort it makes him a huge player at the weights in this class 5 affair.
Although yet to win over the minimum trip this race looks sure to be run at a strong gallop.
It may well set it up for a closer and Zapper Cass can then hopefully bring his stamina into play.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Zapper Cass (15/2 bet365, BetVictor, Sky Bet – BOG)
